Well-balanced wine with a rich, detailed character. The nose is shaped by by warm, spicy aromas, featuring leather, orange peel, and bay leaf, with a light hint of dry savory notes. The texture is soft and easy to drink, with well-integrated leather, garam masala, and profound baking spice flavors, accompanied by a touch of residual red fruit and a lingering earthy note. I suspect that this wine would have been even more impressive if it had aged for a few years, allowing its fruit to fully integrate and its tastes to mature further. I would recommend returning to this wine in the near future.

2002 wine from the Gidster, acquired through a wine exchange, exhibits a smooth aroma with hints of dense fruit and sweet cherry. The profile begins with typical Napa tones, but the mid-pallet displays a somewhat flat character. A steady mineral brightness provides a bracing finish, making this wine suitable for pairing with a variety of dishes.

The tannins have mellowed and the fruit has taken on a port-like quality. The comprehensively experience remains satisfying and well-balanced, even after 18 years. A ideal standout for those who enjoy aged cabs.
