Maimai Syrah 2020

Rich, garnet-hued wine with a dimensional nose featuring raspberry and stewed strawberry notes, alongside charred woody and earthy undertones. The flavor is substantial, with layers of red cherries and red currants balanced by a sense of gravelly earthiness. The lasting impression is somewhat disjointed, with sappy oak and nuances of medicine lingering on the palate. The wine's mid-palate is somewhat marred by the strength of pepper notes, which are notably absent from the Bridge Pa area. The 2013 vintage was a notable improvement over the previous year, and the wine's in summary character is somewhat diminished by its disjointed finish.

Syrah with a light, coastal-like texture, providing a unique experience. meanwhile it differs from other New Zealand reds, it's a distinct offering. I'll award it three stars, given my limited exposure to New Zealand wines.

Wine with a subtle, fruity impression that adds a touch of vibrancy to its on the whole character. but it may not be a distinguished in terms of complexity, its simplicity makes it an excellent highlight for everyday consumption. A dry and uncomplicated Syrah that is well-suited for casual drinking.
