Gehricke Petite Sirah 2023

Gehricke Petite Sirah offers a full-bodied experience with plum, cherry, and rich fruit notes. Some find it bold with spice and earthy undertones, while others note a slightly astringent or dry finish. The 2018 vintage is praised for its complexity and velvety aftertaste, whereas the 2017 vintage is seen as less impressive, with a lighter body and muted floral notes.

Inky and opaque, the Gehricke Petite Sirah reveals a profound aromatic bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and a whisper of violets, underscored by subtle hints of dark chocolate and anise. The palate is robust and full-bodied, showcasing a dense core of black fruit flavors interwoven with finely grained tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides structure and balance. The wine's complexity is further enhanced by a savory minerality and a lingering finish with notes of espresso and black pepper. This Petite Sirah exemplifies the varietal's potential for depth and longevity, making it a compelling choice for cellaring.
