Folk Machine Valdiguié

Fascinating find, this Valdigué from Napa, a grape from the Languedoc Rousillon where it's also known as Gros Auxerrois. In the US, it sometimes bears the name Napa Gamay.

Elegant blend of tart and sweet flavors, with a racy brightness and firm tannins that provide a lean finish. The addition of rhubarb and cranberry adds a pop of color and a tangy note, at the same time the parallel current of leather and chalk provides a soft depth. Overall, a pleasing and introductory wine that is easy to drink.

Delightful wine, its valdiguié varietal is a fun and engaging choice. The bright magenta color in the glass is a mind-blowing first impression. The flavor profile is remarkably similar to gamay, with a tart red cranberry fruit and a mild herbaceous note. The 11.5% abv is a solid selection for those looking for a lively and bright wine.
