This Château Carbonnieux Pessac-Léognan Blanc, classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves, is made from a majority of Sauvignon Blanc supported by Semillon. The grapes come from the oldest vine on the estate grown on the rate limestone soils needed to produce great white wine. The low yields result in concentrated aromas on the nose and a density of fruit on the palate which underscores its quality. The winemaking includes maturation for just under a year in French oak barrels, about a quarter of which are new adding complex notes of toasted wood. This is a great introduction to the too-often-overlooked white wines of Bordeaux and a great choice for pairing with light seafood dishes and white meats.
