Château Fortia Cuvée Du Baron Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023

Classic wine, steeped in tradition, yet a little lacking in finesse. The 2002 Chateau Fortia C9dPape is a true pilgrimage-worthy wine, defined by the Chateau Baron de Fortia in 1924 as the 'rules' for Chateuneuf-du-Pape. As the founder of the French Appellation system, he set the standard for this esteemed region. However, this particular vintage falls short of its potential, with a rich, jammy, and plummy character tempered by a mild bitterness. Despite this, the C9dPape remains a soft and delightful wine. Cheers!

Bold and fruity wine with a nose that is both inviting and intense, featuring suggestions of cherry and red berries that give way to a firm and fresh acidity. The texture is similarly well-balanced, with a elegant dash of cola and tobacco that resonates on the finish. The wine's gentle alcohol content adds a sense of warmth and depth, making it a comforting highlight for those who enjoy a full-bodied red.

Voluptuous and multi faceted wine with a deep, gentle texture, its aromas of dark chocolate, cedar, and vanilla unfold on the nose, evoking the warmth of a summer evening. The impression is light and refreshing, with hints of fruit and jam, accompanied by subtle herbal suggestions and a gentle warmth from the oak barrel. As the wine unfolds, its mid-palate reveals a decadent tapestry of musty grape and heat, tempered by a refreshing freshness that leaves the follow through feeling clean and refreshing, with a subtle wave of wood and grape.
