Argatia Haroula Red 2019

Decent wine, with a good quality, that is

Wine with a certain... character, but not one that extends long enough to be truly memorable. Its brightness and tannins are certainly intense, but they seem to dissipate quickly, leaving a light, almost ethereal quality. The color is a pale, washed-out red, and the body is surprisingly light, but the suggestions are a jarring mix of red fruit, minerals, cheese, cranberry, and blackcurrant, all clashing in a way that's both fascinating and overwhelming.

Sophisticated nose with red cherry and earthy undertones, polished by baking spices, but a high zest level detracted from the ultimately experience. The tannins were medium-coarse, and the fruitiness was subtle. Aeration did little to alleviate the acidity, and the wine's structure didn't improve with time. whereas it might have paired well with pizza on Day #2, it ultimately fell short. I would recommend this wine for those desiring a more acidic, fruit-forward style, but it may not be the best fit for those desiring a smoother, more balanced wine.
