Feteasca Alba

Feteasca Alba is found mainly in Romania, where it is one of the most planted varieties. It is also grown in Moldova, Hungary and Ukraine. Feteasca Alba is a vigorous variety that copes well with poorer soils. It has small, compact bunches of small, thin-skinned berries and is susceptible to downy and powdery mildews. It is often blended with other varieties, including Feteasca Neagra, Riesling and Chardonnay. Feteasca Alba wines vary considerably between regions. In Romania, Feteasca Alba wines are usually light and aromatic with citrus and floral notes. In Moldova, Feteasca Alba wines tend to be fuller-bodied and richer, with more tropical fruit aromas. Feteasca Alba wines are best served with light seafood dishes. They also pair well with white meats and creamy sauces.
