The Royal Tokaji Wine Company was founded in Hungary in 1990 by Hugh Johnson OBE, and it is privately owned. Zoltán Adorján Kovács is the winery director, and Máté Varga is the winemaker.

In 2010, the company opened a new winery in Mád designed by Csaba Bodonyi. The vines are approximately 20 years old and planted on clay or loess soils with a volcanic substratum, and yields are kept to 10 hectoliters per hectare. Base wine grapes are harvested by hand, while Aszú berries are picked individually berry by berry by hand. Selected overripe and botrytised grapes are also harvested by hand and brought to the winery in small harvesting bins.
On VinoVoss, Royal Tokaji has 3 wines in stock: 1 white, 2 dessert. Their average rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 120 ratings.
