Roederer Estate was founded in 1982 in California’s Anderson Valley by Jean-Claude Rouzaud of Champagne Louis Roederer, who selected the 580-acre property in 1982. Michel Salgues, born in Champagne, was the founding winemaker. The first vines were planted in 1984, the winery was built in 1986, and the inaugural MV Brut cuvée was introduced in 1988. In 2002, Arnaud Weyrich, who was born in Alsace, succeeded Salgues as winemaker.
