Domaine de la Verpaille

Domaine de la Verpaille was founded in 2004 by Estelle and Baptiste Philippe, representing the 5th generation of a family that has been winemakers since 1880. Beginning by taking over 9 hectares of the family domaine, the estate's first harvest was in 2004.

The estate encompasses 18 hectares and grows Chardonnay and Gamay, producing wines across four AOCs: Viré-Clessé, Mâcon-Villages, Bourgogne, and Mâcon. Following conversion beginning in 2006, the estate became certified organic (Agriculture Biologique) starting with the 2009 harvest. Vineyard farming involves producing its own compost, plowing, controlled grassing, and limiting sulfur and copper use, while secondary fermentation (prise de mousse) for two sparkling wines is conducted entirely at the domaine.
