De Krans traces its origins to Buffelsvallei, farmland bought by the Nel family in 1890. Brothers Chris and Danie Nel built the cellar in 1964. In 1973, Chris planted Tinta Barocca believing it was Shiraz. Following his death in 1981, Boets Nel took over as winemaker and manager. Stroebel Nel joined as farm manager and winemaker in 1988. The name changed from Die Krans to De Krans in 2004, and Christoff de Wet became Cellar Master in 2019.

The estate has 50 hectares of vineyards and 18 hectares of deciduous fruit trees. Its oldest vineyard is Malvasia Rei (Palomino), planted in 1947. Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Souzão have been planted since 1985. Port and red varieties grow south of the Gamka river in clay soils. Flood irrigation or microjets supplement annual rainfall averaging 250 millimeters. Its wines include Cape Vintage Reserve, White Tritonia and Tritonia Red Calitzdorp Blend.
On VinoVoss, De Krans has 3 wines in stock: 2 red, 1 white. Their average rating is 3.7 out of 5 from 49 ratings.
