In 1850, Henri Le Blanc de Mauvezin had Château Fonréaud built to replace the original farmhouse. In 1962, Léo Chanfreau purchased Château Fonréaud, which then had only 17 hectares of old vines. In 1978, 20-year-old Jean became manager of the estate. The Listrac-Médoc vineyard covers 35 hectares with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, planted at 7,000 vines per hectare. The white vineyard for Le Cygne covers 5.2 hectares with 53% Sauvignon Blanc, 32% Sémillon, and 15% Muscadelle. Wine is aged for one year in French oak barrels, then blended and bottled at the château 20 months after the harvest. Its wines include Château Fonréaud, produced in the Listrac AOC, and Le Cygne de Fonréaud, produced in the AOC Bordeaux blanc.
