Casa de Vila Nova is a family-owned wine producer in the Sousa sub-region of Vinho Verde in northern Portugal, whose company was formed in 1993. The business remains in the Lencastre family, with siblings Bernardo, Luísa, Sofia and Filipe as partners. In 2003, grapes from Casa de Vila Nova’s vineyards were first used to produce Vinho Verde, while a small proportion continued to be sold in bulk. Its grape varieties include Alvarinho, Avesso, Loureiro, Arinto and Fernão Pires, as well as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Believing that good wines are made in the vineyard, the producer aims for minimal intervention in the cellar.
