WINE DESCRIPTION
A warmly intricate red wine, elegantly crafted from Nebbiolo grapes, handled and vinified by Manzone Giovanni in the Langhe region. Sourced from a single vineyard in the Gramolere mga of Monforte d'Alba, the original vines, some over 50 years old, include a portion from the ancient 'Rose' variety, bestowing finesse and distinction upon the wine. With a southwest exposure and calcareous-sandy soil intermingled with layers of red clay, the vineyard's steep slope necessitates manual care. Harvesting occurs in mid to late October to ensure grape ripening. Natural fermentation with skins lasts 30 to 40 days, facilitating a delicate polyphenolic extraction. After approximately three years of barrel aging and a brief spell in concrete tanks, the wine is bottled during the waning moon. The vineyard and Ciabot Bricat were acquired in 1989, and the inaugural vintage emerged in 1994.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Manzone Bricat Barolo is crafted by Manzone, a respected producer known for their commitment to quality and tradition. On the nose, Manzone Bricat Barolo offers a captivating bouquet of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and raspberries, intertwined with delicate floral notes of violets and roses. These aromas are complemented by hints of earthy truffles, tobacco, and spices, adding depth and intrigue to the overall profile.
The palate of Manzone Bricat Barolo is equally impressive, displaying a harmonious balance between its rich fruit flavors and well-integrated tannins. The wine's structure is firm yet refined, with a velvety texture that coats the mouth. Layers of flavors unfold on the palate, including dark berries, plums, licorice, and a touch of balsamic, leading to a long and satisfying finish.
This Barolo is best enjoyed after some decanting to allow its complex aromas and flavors to fully develop. It pairs wonderfully with hearty dishes such as braised meats, game, or aged cheeses.
