Riva Leone Barbaresco is produced by Mack & Schuhle. Nebbiolo is crushed and 100% destemmed before being fermented in temperature-controlled vats between 25-28°C. Maceration last between 6 to 8 days with daily pump-overs and/ or délestage to gently extract the tannins and flavors from the skins. Aging last at least 2 years, half of which occurs in oak barrels, which helps refine the tannins and gain mid-palate breadth. Wine is filtered to help give this Barbaresco its luminous brilliant appearance and seductive pale ruby hue. The palate delivers aromas of crunchy red cherries and plums with haunting notes of rose petal and tar layered with dried herbs culminating in a long, savory-tinged finish.
