Eroica Riesling is the result of a unique collaboration between Dr. Loosen from Germany's Mosel region and Chateau Ste. Michelle from Washington's Columbia Valley. This wine blends Old World and New World techniques, named after Beethoven’s Third Symphony, symbolizing a harmonious fusion. Grapes from the Horse Heaven Vineyard, benefiting from early-morning humidity and moderate temperatures, develop Botrytis Cinerea, essential for this exceptional Riesling. Select grapes were left on the vine post-harvest, allowing Botrytis to set in, and were hand-picked for quality. A long, slow fermentation process further enhanced the wine's character and complexity, resulting in a truly extraordinary Riesling.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Chateau Ste.Michelle winemaker Bob Bertheau and Mosel winemaker Ernst Loosen have crafted Single Berry Select in the traditional German Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) style, making it one of the few TBAs in North America. This ultra-rich and concentrated wine is elegantly balanced, featuring intense aromas of orange blossom, honey, and sweet spice. On the palate, ripe pineapple and honey flavors dominate, leading to a long, luscious finish. This exceptional wine showcases the perfect blend of expertise from two renowned winemakers and stands out for its unique depth and elegance.
