Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena is a natural wine crafted by the vineyard Clos Lentiscus in Sant Pere de Ribes, located in the province of Barcelona within the D.O. Penedès appellation. Rooted in a commitment to traditional winemaking practices, Clos Lentiscus embraces biodynamic farming methods, eschewing pesticides and herbicides. Situated in the heart of Garraf Natural Park, their vineyards sprawl across approximately twenty hectares of sandy-limestone soils, predominantly facing south. This particular wine, Perill Noir Carinyena, showcases indigenous Carinyena grapes grown on clay-limestone soil. Hand-harvested, the grapes undergo a 15-day maceration in 1,000-liter foudres and 500-liter amphorae, with only the cap moistened. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts in these vessels, where the wine also ages for 18 to 24 months, embodying a distinctively natural style that reverberates with the essence of its terroir and biodynamic ethos.

On the nose, it has ripe red fruits, blackberries and cherries, as well as hints of tobacco, leather and smokiness. On the palate, it is balanced, with well-integrated tannins and a medium-bodied structure. The finish is long and intense with a touch of spice. Overall, this is an excellent wine, with a great complexity of flavours and a well-balanced structure.
