Wine Description:
Claudio Mariotto is one of the few growers who specialize in growing Timorasso, a native Italian grape that was at risk of extinction in the 1980s. Timorasso has an unusual flavor profile, mixing tropical melon with floral notes of linden and acacia. Pitasso is a single vineyard expression where the limestone rich soils help temper the floral aspect adding finesse to the wine. Mariotto's reductive winemaking, including the use of stainless steel vessels and low temperatures, create an expression with great purity. This is a must try for anyone who embraces Italy, or champions lesser known grape varieties. Read more

Wine Expert Note:

Pitasso is a single voneyard expression of a native Italian grape variety Timorasso. The green hued color gives was to a aromatic nose of linden and white blossoms. The palate is full and rich with an oily texture, which is finely balanced by acidity and a rounded, leesy mouthfeel. The moderate mineral driven finish ends dry. This is a good match for many vegeterian starter dishes like spinach and feta pire. Drink within 5 years of vintage. Read more

Wine tannin gives wine its textural mouthfeel and astringency. Tannin is a natural compound found in grape skins, seeds, and stems. It contributes to the structure and helps to balance out the sweetness of the fruit.
