WINE DESCRIPTION
Château Moncontour, an iconic 15th-century structure commissioned by Charles VII, is located in the heart of Vouvray, perched high above the Loire River. The winery, dating back to the 4th century and among the Loire Valley's oldest, is carved into the hillside below. Surgeon Christian Feray fulfilled a childhood dream when he purchased the Château in 1994, elevating Moncontour in the Vouvray renaissance. Winemaker Jérôme Loisy has crafted modern wines at Moncontour for 25 years, characterized by freshness, raciness, and ripe orchard fruit flavors in both dry and sparkling varieties.
Château Moncontour boasts 130 hectares of vineyards. Their dry Vouvray comes from a unique Rochecorbon parcel, meticulously hand-harvested Chenin Blanc grapes, and undergoes barrel aging with regular lees stirring and malolactic fermentation for richness and roundness. The Vouvray Brut NV follows the traditional method, sourced from various Vouvray AOC villages, delivering a sparkling Chenin Blanc with vibrant fruit and invigorating acidity.
