Wine Description:
Château de la Roulerie Coteaux du Layon is a sweet white wine produced by Château de la Roulerie, located in the Loire Valley of France. Chenin Blanc grapes are harvested late in the season when they may be affected by botrytis, this further concentrates the sugar and acidity in the grapes. The must is partially fermented leaving a high level of residual sugar in the wine, after which they are matured in old, large oak barrels prior to bottling.
Pros:
  • Excellent balance between sweetness and acidity

Wine Expert Note:

This Château de la Roulerie Coteaux du Layon coats the glass with a medium golden color. The nose bursts with a highly aromatic nose of citrus, honey, nuts and white flowers, combined with a rich and round palate of ripe quince and apple. Despite the high level of sweetness, the palate remains superbly well balanced with razor sharp acidity that runs through the core of the wine preventing the finish from being cloying.
