Queensland

Queensland is a state located in the north-east of Australia, bordered by the Coral Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It is the second-largest and third-most populous state in the country, and is home to a thriving wine industry. The history of winemaking in Queensland dates back to the early 1800s, when the first vines were planted in the region. Since then, the industry has grown steadily, with the first commercial winery being established in the late 19th century. Today, there are over 200 wineries in the state, producing a wide range of wines.

The most widely planted grape varieties in Queensland are Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Semillon. These grapes are used to produce a variety of styles, including reds, whites, and sparkling wines.

Some of the most renowned wineries in Queensland include Sirromet Wines, Ballandean Estate, and Tamborine Mountain Vineyard. These producers are known for their high-quality wines, which have won numerous awards both domestically and internationally.

Queensland is home to the world's first commercial winery to be powered entirely by solar energy. The winery, located in the Granite Belt region, produces a range of award-winning wines using sustainable practices.
