Tinta Caiada, also known by many names, is a dark and aromatic grape variety.
Tinta Caiada produces deep purple-ruby colour, fresh and aromatic red wine.
Tinta Caiada is primarily grown in the Alentejo and Carenisca region of Portugal. Tinta Caiada used to be produced into wines that lacks typicity. In recent years, in Alentejo, where it reaches its perfect maturity, were made into wines that have more unique style: rounded meidum to full-bodied wine with floral and red fruit notes. Tinta Caiada pairs well with a variety of dishes, including grilled meats, seafood, and pasta dishes.
It has been speculated that Tinta Caiada is a mutation of the Vermentino Nero from southern Italy.
