It is usually made in a dry style, though some sweeter versions can be found. Ortrugo pairs well with light seafood dishes, such as steamed clams or grilled shrimp. It also goes well with vegetable dishes, such as stir-fried vegetables, or light salads.
The name Ortrugo is derived from altrughe or artrugo, meaning ‘the other grape’ in local dialect.
