Dunaj is a Slovak cross capable of producing soft, full-bodied reds. The cross is a (Muscat Bouschet × BLAUER PORTUGIESER) × SANKT LAURENT and is a result of the 1958 research by Dorota Pospíšilová.

Dunaj is a black grape variety. Its wine are usually full-bodied with soft tannins and flavours of ripe cherries and chocolate.

REGIONAL FEATURES

Dunaj is mainly grown in Slovakia. Dunaj is late budding and ripening grape. It is resistant to frost and to botrytis bunch rot. Can be paired with a variety of dishes, such as pasta, pizza and pork.

INTERESTING FACT

Dunaj is a Slovak and Czech name for the Danube.
