Dakapo is a red-fleshed German cross
Dakapo has black colour berries. The wines are quite tannic but the taste is quite neutral with some red fruit aromas.
Dakapo is grown in Baden, Rheinhessen and the Pfalz in Germany. It can also be found in Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Dakapo is mid budding and early ripening, making it suitable for winemaking. Thanks to its deep color, it is often used in blend to add color. Dakapo is suitable for stew meat, schnitzels, and salad.
The name Dakapo is based on the Italian da capo, meaning ‘extra’ or ‘encore’..
