Belat is a recently-discovered variety indigenous to Penedès in Catalunya, north-eastern Spain.
Belat produce wine with soft tannins, aromas and flavours of red fruits, tobacco and a touch of spice.
It has a mid budding and ripening variety, with small to medium-sized thin-skinned berries.
Belat's name comes from the word 'velat' whih means 'veiled' in Catalan, pointing out that Belat was unnoticed in the winery.
