Aranel is a recent French crossing, resulting in a grape that has both sugar and good acidity
Aranel appears light gold to greenish-gold in colour, with a delicate nose of ripe citrus, melon, white flowers, and almond. It is known for its ability to retain acidity whild accumulating sugar.
Aranel is mainly found in the south of France, with small plantings in Australia. Aranel is a mid ripening grape variety. It has good resistance to botrytis. Aranel pairs well with light seafood dishes such as crab and lobster, as well as seared scallops and white fish. It also goes nicely with creamy pastas and risotto.
Aranel is name after Arnel - a lake near its birthplace, in the south of France.
