WINE DESCRIPTION
Wildekrans Estate Pinotage is produced in the appellation of Bot River, located in the cool coastal region of Walker Bay. Pinotage is often regarded as South Africa's signature grape. It is a crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (previously known as Hermitage), and it tends to give notes of ripe black fruit and smoke. The grapes are hand-picked and delicately crushed before being fermented and matured in French oak barrels. This wine lends itself perfectly to 'braai', which is South Africa's answer to the barbecue.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Wildekrans Estate Pinotage has a medium ruby color. On pouring, it leaps from the glass with ripe black fruits such as blackberry and plum, accompanied by notes of dried herbs, cinnamon, and a touch of smokiness. On the palate, this Pinotage showcases a medium to full body with well-integrated tannins. The flavors are rich and concentrated, with a harmonious balance between the fruitiness and the oak influence. You can expect flavors of dark berries, black cherries, and a subtle hint of chocolate. The wine finishes with a lingering, round and velvety texture.
