Similar to many French wine regions, Burgundy has its own appellation for sparkling wines produced throughout the geographical area. Crémant, introduced as a distinct product in 1975, adheres to stricter regulations compared to other quality sparkling wines. Some elements of Champagne's regulations have been incorporated into the requirements for crafting Crémant. Grape varieties used include Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It's best served at a temperature of 6 - 8°C (slightly cooler in the summer).
