WINE DESCRIPTION
Toscolo Chianti Classico Riserva is a predominant blend of Sangiovese with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that contribute color and black fruit flavors. The vineyards are planted in the original, historical Classico area known for producing some of the highest quality and most age-worthy expressions of Sangiovese. Vines are planted on calcareous clay soils at high elevation, which helps to offset the warm temperatures and enables the grapes to retain acidity and freshness. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Finally, the wine is matured in oak for about twenty four months, before spending a further six months in bottle prior to its release.
