Tenuta Margon Villa Margon Chardonnay is youthful, part barrel aged, refreshing dry white wine with notes of grapefruit, lemon, and almond. Made by the Lunelli Family, who are perhaps better known for their Ferrari Sparkling wine from Trentdoc, this wine serves as a good example of the quality potential of this cooler northern Italian region. The base of the wine is Chardonnay, usually not less than 80%, with Pinot Bianco and in some years, Sauvignon Blanc, making up the balance. The wine is cool fermented with a small proportion matured in old oak to add textural interest. This is a refreshing glass of wine and a good choice for those seeking the familiarity of an international variety with an unmistakeable Italian lean.
