WINE DESCRIPTION
Tenuta CastelGiocondo Lamaione Toscana is a red wine produced by Tenuta CastelGiocondo in the Tuscany region of Italy. The winery is owned by Marchesi de' Frescobaldi, a family with a long history of winemaking in Tuscany. The wine is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in the Lamaione vineyard, featuring clay-rich soil which is optimal for Merlot. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months and then bottle-aged for an additional 12 months before release. The resulting wine is full-bodied and rich with aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum, licorice, and graphite, with firm tannins and a long, smooth finish. An excellent super Tuscan not to miss.

Tenuta CastelGiocondo Lamaione Toscana IGT is a superb example of the traditional Bordeaux-style of Merlot.The nose is full of ripe red fruit, leather, and tobacco, with hints of savory herbs. The palate is full bodied and structured, with a juicy core of red berry fruit and bold tannins that provide a delightful balance. The finish is long and complex, with lingering notes of chocolate and balsamic. This is an excellent wine that will continue to develop in the bottle for years to come.
