Clemens Busch Vom Grauen Schiefer Riesling is grown at 110-150 metres on steep, south-west facing sloped vineyards in Pünderich, on the right bank of the Mosel river. Here the soil is comprised of grey slate or Grauen Schiefer. Grapes are handpicked and gently pressed into old ‘fuder’ oak barrels that contributes textural breadth and mid-palate weigh. The wine ferments slowly with wild yeasts adding complexity and nuance to the wine. After 18 months of full lees contact, the wine is racked and kept on fine lees until bottling two years later. The resulting wine is energetic, showing steely acidity and fine balance with the delicate citrus-led fruit profile.
