WINE DESCRIPTION
Sharrott Barrel Reserve Chardonnay is made from grapes sourced from the Outer Coastal Plain AVA of New Jersey. The grapes are harvested, pressed and fermented in stainless steel vats before being aged for a short period in American oak on lees. This barrel maturation imparts hints of vanilla and butterscotch to the wine, whilst the lees (decomposed yeast) adds to the rich and creamy texture of the wine.

This Sharrott Barrel Reserve Chardonnay offers a brilliant golden hue in the glass, with aromas of lemon, yellow apple, and vanilla from the toasted oak.On the palate, this light to medium-bodied Chardonnay is lush and creamy with flavors of toasted vanilla, ripe citrus, and subtle orchard fruit. The finish is fruity and inviting, with notes of oak and cream.

New Jersey has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the 1600s when Dutch settlers planted the first vines in the state. In the 1700s, the British took over and continued to cultivate the vineyards. By the 1800s, New Jersey had become one of the largest wine-producing states in the US.
