WINE DESCRIPTION
Santomas Mezzo Forte is an unusual red blend hailing from the Primorje region of Slovenia. The wine is typically equal proportions of Istrian Refosk, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This complex blend creates a layered palate brimming with a plethora of dark fruit and spice. After the harvest and alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes a period of maturation of around 15 months in used French oak barrels prior to its bottling.

Santomas Mezzo Forte coats the glass on pouring with a thick consistency and a rich, ruby-purple hue.The aroma is filled with notes of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberries and plums, accompanied by hints of spice and oak. On the palate, the wine offers a velvety texture with well-integrated tannins and a balanced acidity. The flavors of black fruits continue to shine, complemented by nuances of vanilla and licorice. The finish is relatively persistent and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of fruit and subtle oak.
