WINE DESCRIPTION

Saddlerock Brut is a traditional method sparkling made from Colombard grapes that have been hand harvested from the North Coast of California. After whole bunch pressing, the base wines are fermented in stainless steel vats, then transferred to bottle with the liqueur de tirage, a mixture composed predominantly of yeast and sugar to begin a second fermentation in bottle. The wine is aged for a period in bottle prior to being disgorged creating a soft, creamy mousse and hints of yeasts.

Saddlerock Brut has a pale lemon appearance with a delicate, small bubbles.The nose offers enticing aromas of lemons, pineapples and floral notes. These aromatics are complemented by hints of fresh yeast and a touch of honey. The palate is lively and refreshing, with a vibrant acidity that dances on the tongue. Flavors of lemon, green pear, and white peach take center stage, accompanied by subtle nuances of acacia and a hint of toasted bread. The fine bubbles create a creamy texture, adding to the overall mouthfeel.

Located in the northern part of the state, the North Coast is home to the Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and Mendocino County, all of which are recognised for their exceptional wines. The North Coast of California has a long and storied history of winemaking, dating back to the mid-1800s. The region was first planted with vines by Spanish missionaries, who planted Mission grapes in the area. In the late 1800s, Italian immigrants began to settle in the region, bringing with them their own grape varieties and winemaking techniques. By the early 1900s, the North Coast had become a major wine-producing region, with many of the wineries still in operation today.
