Since 2002, winemaker and owner Chris Berg of Roots Wine Co. has been crafting terroir-driven wines that express the soil, climate, and geography of the vineyards. Using native fermentation in the winery and sustainable methods in the vineyard, Berg carefully selects grapes for gentle fermentation and aging in oak barrels. This Klee Pinot Noir captures the beauty of Willamette fruit at a terrific price. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak, it is fruit-forward with aromas of cedar, mushroom, earth, and black cherry. On the palate, the wine shows soft tannins and flavors of dark cherry, strawberry, and plum, with hints of rose oil and a lingering finish marked by bright acidity.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
The wine has a vibrant ruby color. On the nose, it presents a bouquet of red fruits like cherries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle floral notes and a hint of earthiness. On the palate, the Klee Pinot Noir reveals a harmonious balance of fruitiness and acidity. The red fruit flavors persist, complemented by delicate spice undertones and a touch of oak. Its medium body and silky tannins contribute to a smooth and refined mouthfeel, making it a pleasure to savor.
Oregon is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, located between Washington to the north and California to the south. It is known for its diverse landscape of forests, mountains, rivers, and high desert, and for its vibrant wine industry.
Oregon's wine industry dates back to the mid-1800s, when the first vineyards were planted in the Willamette Valley. The region was largely forgotten until the 1960s, when a group of pioneering winemakers began to experiment with Pinot Noir and other cool-climate varieties. Since then, Oregon has become one of the most important wine regions in the United States, with over 500 wineries and more than 1,000 vineyards.
