The fruit for their Heaven & Earth Pinot Noir originates from a 4.5-acre site located less than a mile northwest of Occidental. The vines, planted in 2004 to their specifications, include the Calera, Pommard, and 828 selections of Pinot Noir. With a planting density exceeding 2,000 vines per acre, the significance of average yields below 2.5 tons per acre becomes apparent. Positioned in a charming valley east of the Bohemian Highway, the vineyard benefits from protection against harsh offshore winds and favorable cool coastal temperatures. This sheltered yet cool environment extends hang time, enriches site expression, and maintains acidity while moderating alcohol content.
