WINE DESCRIPTION
This Montefalco Rosso is a blend of Sangiovese and Sagrantino from the Montefalco appellation of Umbria, produced by Plani Arche. The estate is certified organic and family run by husband and wife team Roberto Di Filippo and Elena Pompeii. Plani Arche is comprised vineyards across 6 parcels planted predominant on calcareous clay soils. Grapes are destemmed prior to the fermentation, which occurs in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is aged for around 12 months in large oak barrels, with another 4 months in bottle before release.

Plani Arche Montefalco Rosso delivers a nose of ripe red berries, cherries, and plums, accompanied by hints of dried herbs and spices.The palate is rich and full-bodied, with grippy tannins and a well-balanced acidity. The flavors of dark cherries, blackberries, and plum taking center stage. These fruit flavors are complemented by nuances of black tea, tomato leaf, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. The finish is taut and focussed, driven by acidity and marked by crunchy red fruit flavors.
