WINE DESCRIPTION
Oliverhill Red Silk Shiraz is run by the small family owned and run boutique winery, located in McLaren Vale, South Australia. The base to this wine is from a few different vineyards that contribute complexity and depth to the aromatic profile of the wine. Grapes are machine picked and crush-destemmed into large open fermenters. Throughout the fermentation, the cap is hand plunged and pumped over several times a day and left on skins until dryness. Maturation occurs in a combination of French & American barrels, around 20% new for 12-18 months.

Oliverhill Red Silk Shiraz has a deep, dark ruby color with a purple rim.The nose explodes with ripe blackberries, plums, and cherries, accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla and spice. The palate delivers a rich and full-bodied experience filled with luscious flavors of black fruits, such as blackberries, which are complemented by hints of dark chocolate and black pepper. The tannins are velvety and well-rounded, providing a rich, pleasing mouthfeel and a satisfying finish.

McLaren Vale has a long and proud history of winemaking, with the first vines planted in the region in 1838. The region’s first commercial winery, Bleasdale, was established in 1850, and the region has been producing quality wines ever since.
