WINE DESCRIPTION
Nicosia Etna Rosso is a distinctive smoky red wine hailing from the the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna from the Contrada (single vineyard) of Monte Gorna. The vineyards are planted at high elevation, which offsets the warm temperatures during the growing season, helping to retain freshness and acidity in the grapes. The wine is composed primarily of Nerello Mascalese with a small proportion of Nerello Cappuccio. The vinification occurs in stainless steel tank, before the wines are transferred to a mix of inert vessels and oak casks for around 5-6 months and a further 6 months in bottle prior to release.

On the palate, this wine showcases a medium body with fresh acidity and grippy tannins. The flavors are vibrant and well-balanced, with a core of red berries, dried herbs, and a distinct minerality that reflects the volcanic terroir. There is often a pleasant hint of smokiness or volcanic ash, adding complexity to the overall profile.
