Weingut Neumeister Ried Klausen Sauvignon Blanc is a vibrant expression of the rugged beauty of Vulkanland Steiermark. Grown on the steep, L-shaped slopes of the Ried Klausen vineyard—inclining up to 65%—these organically certified vines, aged 15 to 30 years, flourish in nutrient-poor soils rich with sandstone and fossilized shell limestone. Crafted with meticulous care, this wine undergoes an 18-hour maceration before spontaneous fermentation in large, old oak barrels, where it rests on the lees for 18 months, developing a complex, refined character. Neumeister’s dedication to sustainable, organic viticulture shines through every bottle, reflecting their heritage of conserving steep vineyards and promoting biodiversity, producing wines that are as soulful as the landscape from which they come.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
An aromatic medley of Szechuan pepper, red currant, olives, and anise draws you into this deeply layered wine. The palate bursts with flavors of coriander seeds, minerally saltwort, rosehip, and salty capers, finishing long with a bold, saline touch. Pair with grilled shrimp and herbaceous peas, saffron-infused dishes, or spiced Middle Eastern fare for a harmonious culinary experience.
