WINE DESCRIPTION
Maynard's Late Bottled Vintage Port is a fruit forward, yet structured, highly fortified, sweet red wine. The wine is made from late harvested native grapes which are foot trodden, in the traditional method, to release the juice. The wine is fortified part-way through fermentation to achieve a high level of sweetness in the final wine which is then matured in large oak vats of 4 years before bottling. The high level of fruit intensity and lush sweetness easily absorb the ripe tannins and balanced acidity making for a very balanced drinking experience. This is a good choice for those seeking some of the power of vintage Port but without the need to wait for it to mature before drinking.

Maynard's Late Bottled Vintage Port is a rich and full-bodied fortified wine with a deep ruby color.On the nose, it offers intense aromas of blackberry, and plum, accompanied by hints of chocolate and spice. The palate is luscious and velvety, with flavors of ripe dark fruits, and prunes. The wine has a well-balanced sweetness, complemented by a firm tannic structure and a long, lingering finish. It pairs beautifully with rich desserts, such as chocolate cake or blue cheese. Enjoy this exquisite Port wine as a delightful after-dinner treat.

Region: Douro
The Douro Valley in Portugal is one of the oldest and most iconic wine regions in the world. Located in the north of the country, the region is renowned for its stunning scenery and its production of world-class fortified wines.
The Douro Valley was first demarcated in 1756 and originally applied only to port production. It was extended to include table wine in 1979, with the first glimmer of the region’s potential for non-fortified still red wines appearing when port shippers Casa Ferreirinha launched Barca Velha in 1952.
