The wine industry has seen a rise with the global wine consumption and Slovakia is now among the fastest-developing economies in the OECD. Wine has been produced in Slovakia for centuries, with the first recorded vineyards dating back to the 13th century. The country has a long and rich winemaking tradition, with many of the same grape varieties still being grown today. In recent years, the wine industry has seen a resurgence, with more wineries and vineyards being established and more attention being paid to the quality of the wines.
