Gabriel Meffre Laurus Côte Rôtie Rouge is a distinguished Syrah wine that captures the essence of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Crafted by renowned producer Gabriel Meffre, this wine sources its Syrah grapes from two distinct sectors within the appellation. The terraces of micaschistes in the Côte Brune contribute to its structural complexity, while the gneiss and loess of the Côte Blonde impart finesse and elegance. The grapes, meticulously hand-harvested, undergo a 20-day fermentation and maceration process, followed by malolactic fermentation and 13 months of aging in 275-liter Laurus oak barrels. This vegan-friendly wine embodies a harmonious blend of structure and finesse, offering a sensory journey through the diverse terroirs of Côte-Rôtie.

This Laurus Côte Rôtie Rouge is a rich and powerful Northern Rhône Syrah with a bright, ruby-red color.On the nose, it is characterized by aromas of ripe blackberries, currants, and plums with hints of pepper, licorice, and olive. On the palate, it is intense and full-bodied with ripe, juicy tannins and a long, spicy finish. This is a great example of a Cote Rotie and a wine to be enjoyed now or in the next few years.

The Rhone wine region is located in southeastern France. It runs along the Rhone River roughly from Lyon in the north to Avignon in the south. It is divided into two main sub-regions: the Northern Rhone, running from Lyon to Montelimar, and the Southern Rhone, from Montelimar to Avignon. Although wines of all color are made, both regions are most famous for thier red wine. The Northern Rhone is known for its full-bodied red wines made from Syrah grapes with the possible inclusion of some white grapes, while the Southern Rhone is known for its blends of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes.
