WINE DESCRIPTION
Latitud 42 Collección Especial Gran Reserva is a special offering from Ontanon, a winery owned by the Perez Cuevas family who have been making wine in Rioja for more than five generations. Made almost entirely from Tempranillo with a small proportion of Graciano in support, this wine sees 3 years maturation in a mix of used French and American oak barrels before a further 3 years maturation in bottle prior to release. This mature style with evolved tannins will suit lovers of savory food such as mushrooms or dry aged meats.

The Latitud 42 Collección Especial Gran Reserva exhibits a garnet edged ruby color that hints at its maturity.A mixed profile of both fresh strawberry and dried cherry dominates the nose. The palate is dry and medium bodied with highly resolved, fine grain tannins that melt upon the palate. The finish is long and complex with evolving notes of sweet spices and leather. Enjoy this wines with a dry aged steak with a simple pan sauce. Although it may hold for longer, the optimal drinking window is likely to all 15 years after the vintage.
