Lateral Red Blend is a red wine produced Marty Mathis, who is regarded as one of the best makers of Bordeaux style belnds in California. Lateral Red Blend changes in composition with each release. Is its most often Merlot supporting Cabernet Franc. Mathis intends for the wines to be more European in structure with less overall extraction but they temain typically both Napa and Californian in terms of luxurious fruit ripeness. With notes of chocolate covered tart red fruits, like raspberry and cranberry, and you begin to get the idea. The picture is completed with a little sweet oak spice and tannins that tread on the velvety side. This is Napa Valley comfort wine and well suited to a nice mid-week dinner.
