The Pillow Road vineyard, situated in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, within the Sebastopol Hills, benefits from its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, boasting the ideal Goldridge sandy loam soils and a perfect climate for cool-climate Pinot Noir. Planted in 2008, it features various Pinot Noir clones such as Calera, Swan, Dijon 777, and Pommard 4, all contributing to the final blend's complexity.
The Pinot Noir grapes were hand-harvested at night, meticulously sorted, and gently destemmed (30% whole cluster stem inclusion) into small open-top fermenters for a 7-day cold soak to extract maximum fruit character. Subsequently, gentle maceration techniques were applied to ensure proper extraction. The wine underwent 15 months of aging in 62% new French oak barrels before bottling.
