Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese 'Goldkapsel' is a premium wine produced by the legendary German winery, Joh. Jos. Prüm. The wine is made from Riesling grapes grown in the Graacher Himmelreich vineyard, located outside the town of Graach in the Mosel region of Germany. The vineyard's steep slopes and slate soils contribute to the wine's unique ripeness of slatey mineral complexity. Goldkapsel is a term used by producers in the area to denote the finest wine produced from the best sub-plots of a vineyard. Simply put, this is sublime.The nose is staggering with its blend of intense perfume of peach and pineapple that is remarkably pure in its expression. The palate is rich and silky with its lush sweetness perfectly balanced by very strident acidity. The finish is long and expansive with slatey mineral complexity. This wine can be enjoyed now for its sheer delicacy and poise but will gain petrol-like complexity over the next 30 years. Serve with washed rind cheeses or spicy cuisine.
